VOLVO STARTS OFFERING FULL DRIVER SUPPORT Volvo has unveiled its Driver Support System (DSS), which incorporates all of the safety functions required by law in many commercial vehicles from November.
DSS is available on the B8R and B11R coach chassis, including the 9700, and will be fitted as standard on all those ordered going forward. It includes emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning. Additionally, on the B11R, adaptive cruise control (ACC) can be specified in conjunction with the I-Shift gearbox. ACC will not be offered on the B8R, Volvo has confirmed.

SCANIA: RECORD HIGH MARKET SHARE IN EUROPE

SCANIA: RECORD HIGH MARKET SHARE IN EUROPE Scania’s market share in Europe reached a record high 17.2 percent during the first half of 2015. The increase was connected to the early and very successful introduction of the Euro 6 range and sales activities in new segments, among other things. Scania increased its market share in the European truck market to 17.2 percent during the period January to June 2015. This can be compared to 15.3 percent during the same period of 2014. The positive trend which began last year with the transition to the Euro 6 emission standard thus continued.

UD CITY BUSES BEGIN PILOT OPERATIONS IN BENGALURU

The first customer trials for the recently developed UD city bus was flagged off in Bengaluru recently. The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will operate these buses on key routes over the next two months. The start of the first customer trials is a significant milestone in the introduction of UD Buses in India. In 2014, Volvo Group who ownes the UD label, unveiled the UD Buses brand as part of its strategy to foray into the value segment in growth markets. India is now the first market where UD Buses are being introduced.
