ACEA: EU DEMAND FOR BUSES AND COACHES DROPPED SHARPLY IN MARCH

In March 2019, commercial vehicle registrations increased for the third consecutive month (+4.1%) and +5.1% over the first quarter of 2019 as ACEA reports in her monthly update. With the exception of buses and coaches, all segments contributed to last month’s growth. In March 2019, EU demand for buses and coaches dropped sharply (‐4.9%), with the major EU markets posting strong declines. Double‐digit drops were recorded in Germany (‐30.0%), the United Kingdom (‐19.4%) and France (‐7.5%) last month.

BY EXQUI.CITY FROM BRUSSELS AIRPORT TO BUSWORLD EUROPE

Flemish public transport operator De Lijn previously ordered 14 Van Hool Equi.City 'trambuses'. The first one made its maiden trip on a dedicated bus lane on 25 October 2019. The buses will be delivered this summer and go into service in September, right before the start of Busworld Brussels in Octobre. The 14 'trambuses' will operate between Brussels Airport Zaventem and Brussels Expo, where Busworld Europe will have its 25th (!) edition. Busworld visitors who arrive at the Brussels airport will have the opportunity to be a passenger on Belgium's first BRT like system.

SKODA ELECTRIC Y PROTÓN FABRICARÁN AUTOBUSES A HIDRÓGENO EN EUROPA

Proton anunció que los primeros autobuses de pila de combustible de hidrógeno fabricados junto a Skoda Electric podrían comenzar a operar en Europa en 2020. Skoda Electric y su socio Proton Power Systems han firmado una carta de intenciones en la República Checa para fabricar y vender de forma conjunta autobuses eléctricos de pila de combustible de hidrógeno utilizando los sistemas modulares HyRange de Proton.
